I found the following on the Memphis message board.  Thought some of you might be interested:

"Here's what Wolken said about where Tarik Black will be for Madness, and why:

[Comment From airric2255]
Any word on why Tarik Black cancelled on attending MM? Also, what do you know about "Hipo" and Trevor Lacey?

[Comment From Dan Wolken]
Well, the word among people I talk to in the local basketball community is that his high school coach, Wes Henning, has a lot of influence over Black right now and that Henning is taking him up to Marquette this weekend (for the second time; he also took him up for their elite camp). There are a lot of factors going against Memphis right now with Black, and the reality is, he's not good enough to wait on or play games with in my opinion. He has a lot of holes in his game, and Memphis is going to have to sign multiple bigs anyway, including a Juco most likely. That may be the direction this is heading. I know that Hippolyte Tsafack and Trevor Lacey are two prospects who will be there this weekend. Tsafack is a big guy from Cameroon, who plays prep ball in Virginia. I think he will be a Tiger."

Memphis is so loaded, they signed the two Barton brothers from Baltimore, Joe Jackson and Chris Crawford.  We'll take Black...

well than let me be the first one to say "we would love Tarik Black at MU"   we have a hole at the true power forward position.  That is that 6'8-6'9 guy that is not afraid to mix it up and get the big rebound and can finish and run the court.

If Memphis is too good for him let me be the first to say that we are not too good for Tarik. This kid would be an absolute stud for this program and is another peice in the puzzle to contend for titles.  Would get tons of PT from day 1.  A class with him and Jones would be top 15 in the nation before we even sign another player or two.

Ellenson Guerrero

Wow... Why have I not heard this kid's name before. If I could create-a-player like in a video game I would create him. 6'8, athletic, with a 7'2 wingspan. Looks like he can run the floor and finish with authority. A class of him, Blue and Jones would be top 10 easy...

What kind of "holes in his game" is he referencing?

Rivals has him as #47 overall, Scout has him at #72.

The holes in his game is that he is not as interested in Memphis as he once was.  He is a confirmed Madness visitor per IWB along with Blue.

That's mostly sour grapes because they thought they had the kid in the bag and wanted him to commit awhile ago.  Pretty soon you'll start hearing about how his mom is the reason he's not going to Memphis, and his coach doesn't have his best interests in mind.

Another "hole" in his game is that he chooses to take his own SAT.

simply love the description of his game.   A young MAurice Lucas.  Black could be Mu's next MAurice Lucas.  Take Mu to the final 4 and then be an NBA All-star and NBA world champion just like Mo Lucas.

Did everyone Know Bill Walton named his son, Luke,  after Maurice Lucas when they were all-star teammates and world champions on the Trailblazers?

BEast player.  Strong Student seems like a total fit for MU.  I like the rips down the rim comment

??  Are you saying he's an academic risk?  Or is this a rip on Memphis and Wagner Rose?  I hope the latter and not the former.

I'd say thats a Derrick Rose jab....allegedly had someone take his SAT to get into Memphis, and Memphis was well aware.

I know you're searching for the cloud in the blue sky, but this is a rip on Memphis and Derrick Rose.

Pastner is a great recruiter. Too bad he didn't sit on Buzz's bench, even for just a year.

T.H., you're better at financial analysis than predicting what other people are searching for.  Based on some of the risks we have taken of late I felt it was a legitimate question to ask.  Happy to hear he's in good academic standing....that hasn't always been the case of late (that's not a cloud, just a point in fact).  Makes me feel much better that he would have his academics in order.

And I hear that he could be the next Maurice Lucas, which is even better.
