First city eliminated of the 4.

Dish

This is a blessing, thank god.

GGGG

Eliminated in the first round?  Holy crap, I would have thought they would have made the final two at least.

Dish

IOC Olympic voting is the strangest process in sports. It makes no sense whatsoever, I'm just glad Chicago got eliminated, first or last.

NavinRJohnson

Maybe they should have sent Jimmy Carter and Jerry Springer instead.

GOMU1104

1st round, just like the Cubs

groove

Guess the messiah couldn't get his ACORN thug friends to corrupt the vote. Love it! Couldn't happen to a better city.

Wow your an idiot, the Olympics are for the United States as a whole not an individual city. So much for rooting for the US

I dont know maybe, considering all the other countries involved in the olympic voting for 2016 are broken up into provinces and states as well smart alec. Even though your post didn't need a response, since your stupidity spoke for itself

I see.  Well, next time you call someone out by saying "Wow your an idiot" you may want put it in the following form:

"Wow, you're an idiot."   It makes the whole idiot claim much stronger in my opinion.   ;D

Oh, and GO USA! USA! USA!   I don't want to be accused of being anti-American (but I am anti-Chicago....the most corrupt city in America, and that's saying something...Philadelphia nipping at its heals).  That's not to say I don't like the peeps in Chicago, I do.  Many dear friends there, great people.  It's the machine that I abhor.

mu_hilltopper

I really believe its very plausible that Chicago lost so big because of what transpired 12 months ago, namely the enormous banking crisis that put not just the US, but the entire globe on the edge of a global depression.

Think of the billions of dollars the entire globe has had to pump into their banking systems because of (mostly) American greed and the reckless decisions by (mostly) American financial institutions. -- which oh, by the way, has sparked a global recession.

I can understand why an international body might not want to award the #1 international boondoggle to Americans at this particular time in history.

GGGG

hilltopper, this wasn't an anti-American thing.

Chicago, just as New York when they were a finalist for the 2012 bid, simply had the weakest bid.  They had to construct a bunch of facilities in a relatively short time span with some precarious financing.  Furthermore, Chicagoans were not exactly welcoming the Olympics with open arms.

mu_hilltopper

Oh, so now Chicago's bid was the weakest?   I guess all the reports that Chicago was a lock for one of the final two spots was just crazy talk.  Didn't read anything about how weak the bid was until after the decision was made.

Now, truly, that could be bad reporting or bad prognosticating / homerism.   In any event, seems that most reports would have disagreed with your sentiment yesterday.

Chicos, I don't get your angle.  It's more than Illinois corruption that makes the Olympics undesirable to people like myself.

The olympics are a huge marketing bonanza for corporations, infrastructure improvements for host cities, tax increases for host area  and nothing more.

Isn't marketing what you do for a living? I'm sure that there would be no corruption in LA and you wouldn't want the U.S. host city buzz for Directv multi coverage?

I have the same political leanings as yourself but people need to keep MUSCOOP's mantra close to their heart if they want to play ball here. I can't wait for the bball season to begin so I don't have to read another Chicos, hayward, fornever or prn interaction rant turn into another Crean roadkill. The good news is that all of your egos will be sidetracked  once the ball starts bouncing!

I would love it if we could have a cage match area for all the people who still care about Crean and have egos larger than the maestro himself!

PEACE!

ChicosBailBonds

Actually, your comments about corporations, infrastructure improvements, tax increases I totally agree with.  100% agree with.

And believe me, there's plenty of corruption in L.A., we just haven't refined it to the level of a Chicago which is world famous for it.  Between New Orleans and Chicago, they have mastered corruption.  So in addition to your given reasons, I just don't think Chicago should be rewarded.  So yes, that's my angle.

Of course the irony here is that the IOC, which has had plenty of corruption issues, is the one that chose to not have Chicago as a host city.

I can't wait for the season to start either.

Peace
