I am also puzzled by the move to UV with all of the momentum and recruiting he had going at Washington State, but I remember a conversation almost the day Crean announced with a friend of mine (and Bennett's). This was before any serious Bennett rumors started. In fact, my friend was contacted by quite a few high-ranking MU alumni to put the feelers out. He was in contact with Bennett daily at this point. From minute one, he said Bennett never seriously considered MU, money and all. I said, "I bet he wants to come back to UW when Bo retires." He just smiled and said, "you never know." Just a gut feeling.

If that's the case, I don't know why he didn't stay at Washington State where things were starting to get rolling.  Unless Bo has told folks he's retiring in the next 3 or 4 years.

Bo will be there awhile.  He's only 61 and has his little kingdom.  I wouldn't doubt 8-10 years.

James Jones committed to Virginia last week.  4 star recruit, big man out of California.  Chose UVA over Cal, Arizona and UVa.

I thought Bennett couldn't recruit?

I'll admit, that was my concern with him last spring. Although, I've heard (and it appears) he's actually a solid recruiter.

I'm not sure he's Bo's replacement either. I think it goes to one of three guys: Rob Jeter, Saul Philips, or Greg Gard. Gard doesn't have any HC experience, but he's been his right hand man forever and I can see him getting rewarded for it.

Anybody who can get "make it to the NCAAs" talent to Pullman is a good recruiter.  Words cannot describe how isolated that place is.

Depends who the AD is...Bo is respected in Madison but he's not a through and through "Barry Guy".  If Barry's still the AD it will be a very national search, and I'm sure Bennett will be considered.

You're not suggesting our AD didn't do a national search are you?  Or had a chance at Bennett but muffed it so badly that he turned Bennett off from the get go?

Like he did a national search for the football coach?  <grumble>
