Golden Eagle Q&A With Erik Williams

Men's basketball player Erik Williams of Houston, Texas, is one of Marquette's new additions to the team in 2009-10. Prior to Marquette, Williams was named first team all-region, as well as all-state, as a senior at Cypress Springs High School. Williams sat down with GoMarquette.com to share his experiences upon arrival to Milwaukee, new adjustments and his new team's expectations this year as a newcomer to the BIG EAST.

EWill took Dwight Burke's number.  I guess it is good luck for getting PT.

I don't know the guy personally, but he does seem to be a very good kid.  Hopefully he got the injury bug out of his system with the junior year issues.  We flat out need a couple of guys to really step up this year - no reason Erik can't be one of the top contributors for this team.

I also like him because he came out quickly and said he was honoring his commitment to Marquette once Tan Crean skipped town.  The only negative I've see is that he doesn't appear to be the type of guy that will provide us with any innovative new terminology such as "point plankn".  But that's "aite".

Agreed Jay. I remember an interview he did in HS about coming to MU, and he specifically mentioned how he and his family really liked the fact MU was Jesuit, and that it was important to them. Ever since he's been the guy I want to succeed here the most. Seems like a really grounded kid.
