Will MU fans cheer for UW and vice versa?

You're kidding, right? Try going on their site and make nice.

It sure seemed like UW and MU fans cheered for each other when both teams were in Minneapolis during our last Final Four march.

They can't charter a plane together, Wisconsin isn't going to pay for hotel rooms for two extra days when there won't be a reason for them to hang around after Friday afternoon.

Exactly.  A bunch of red clad wisconsin fans threw on gold for the Marquette game.  A lot of Wisconsin fans actually cheer for MU if they aren't playing wisconsin.

Will root for the BADgers because they need to destroy their point guard on national TV so DJ can win the Cousy.

MarquetteDano

As was already mentioned, Badger fans cheered HUGE for Marquette when we played both Pitt and Kentucky in '03.  I think having the Badgers in the same "pod" is a huge advantage since they will once again cheer for us.  A good portion of Badger fans may not like Marquette,  but Wisconsinites are very parochial and will cheer for Wisconsin over Utah any day.

I might get skewered alive for this, but I don't have a problem with the reciprocated cheering.  God knows one of my dearly held convictions about MU bball is that we should beat UW every year, but other than that, why not cheer for them?  If they are perennially on our schedule, it helps us that they are a competitive team.  Boosts our OOC schedule, etc.  Anyway, we Wisconsinites are a parochial bunch I guess.  I'd cheer for them to do well in the tourney.  I guess my only reservations would concern recruiting competition, but a strong MU team does just as much to attract talent IMO.  I hope they do well, as long as MU does better.

I'm with you on this one.  Before going to Marquette, I grew up on U-dub sports (my dad went there) and I've always cheered for them whenever MU's not playing them.  Besides, it's an RPI booster when they win during the regular season.  I do however, get frustrated when UW followers assert that Madison is superior to Marquette in every way, shape, and form.  For example, I was reading the comments on Rosiak's blog tonight and got so disgusted with the childish back-and-forth between MU and UW posters that I had to quit.

That is the single best feature of this board.  Basically no fans from other teams here to raise my blood pressure for no good reason. (Not to say certain Marquette "fans" haven't done the same on a daily basis.)  I don't know what you admins do to prevent them from trolling, but please, for the love of all things holy, keep doing it.

The previous Rivals incarnation was painful to visit at times.  The opposing fans who would come on the board just to be an #$#%.  I would get actual pain in my jaw from clenching my teeth reading the pissing matches (can I say that?)

I know a lot of MU fans in '03 that got their tix for the UK game from Wisconsin fans.  The Wisco fans were willing to give our fans a square deal for primo seats.  I'm sure they were a help during the Pitt game too.

Agreed with above comments: Wisconsin pride takes precedence when both teams are playing in Idaho.
