New York Newsday in its weekly Big East assessment article reports a quote from Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez that Wes Matthews is the best guard he has seen play all year.

#1
he may be the most complete guard in many ways, that's for sure.
and he showed it vs. Gonzalez and crew.

Anyone find a link for this. I tried to find one, but was unsuccessful. Maybe somebody will have better luck than I did.

Good to see Wes get some recognition. He is easily my favorite of the sophomores. He has a very easy and natural playing style that is easy on the eyes and heart (unlike McNeal with his "chicken with a head cut off" flurries and James with his "beyond Novak range" threes). Matthews is a great compliment to the other two. In my opinion, he may be the most naturally talented of the three (which does not always imply the most athletically talented nor the hardest working).

I gotta agree w/ MUCam...Wesley is my favorite of the big three to watch simply because he is the most complete player. while his game in certain aspects isn't as dominant as McNeal's or James', he has almost all the little pieces that make someone a great basketball player and i think he's proving that more this year after not being able to play for part of last season.

It is interesting how Wes seems to excel against the lower echelon teams, but James/McNeal seem to step up more against the ranked teams.  if wes plays to his potential, we win against wisconsin this year.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Tried to look for it too, but found this instead:

In good hands

One of the major reasons for Marquette's return to the national rankings is efficiency with the basketball, particularly as practiced by point guard Dominic James. The Big East player of the week for the second consecutive time, James has led the Golden Eagles to five consecutive conference victories. In the last two wins, over conference leader Pittsburgh and Seton Hall, he had nine assists and just one turnover in 75 minutes.
