I was all set to go to tomorrow night's Division 4 Sectional Final between Benton and Randolph.  This would have been the third year in a row that these two teams met with a trip to state on the line, the last two being decided by less than five points each time.  I was also ready to see Kyle Kelm, the 6'10" junior from Randolph who was offered by Buzz over the summer.

Well, Randolph managed to lose to Sheboygan Christian last night in the Sectional semifinal.  And Kelm had ten points.  Now I don't know if Kelm is hurt or sick, but let me just say that if you can't absolutely dominate Division 4 basketball in Wisconsin (Anthony Pieper, Sam Okey, Joe Wolf), you are probably not a BE level player.

I think I'll still go to the game though...

He is not a Big East-level player and Marquette has moved on.

We need a guard for 2010 anyway.  No more 6'10" stiffs, please.

I was at the Sectional Semi-Final watching Benton vs. Catholic Central.

Benton is good, nothing special.  Quick guards who can shoot, however Catholic Central was up late into the third quarter, and just had some of the wrong bounces that decide a game, one of the better high school boys games I have seen in quite some time.

I also personally hope Benton loses due to their student section/part of their parents do the winning train on the court (aka world longest conga line)... show some class, you got Catholic Central players walking off the court after a battle... and they have to dodge this conga line of idiot students dancing around the court... no way that should happen.

pure genius stuff by Bill Simmons, remember to read day 2

That strikes me as one of not only the most classless celebrations, but also one of the lamest.

It would be quite difficult as a player from the opposing team not to want to crash right through that silly thing.

I know nothing of either of these teams, but given what MayorMcC wrote, I wish for Benton to lose.  You want to talk about being in the middle of nowhere Benton, WI (which I had to look up on Google Earth) certainly fits the bill.

Oh come on...

By Western Wisconsin standards, Benton is a metropolis.  It's only 20 miles from Dubuque!  If you really want isolated, go to Kickapoo High School in Viola, WI.

Dubuque only has 57k people.  It's the middle of nowhere.

But he's tall and that's all that matters
