MU Avenue

Marquette has a pretty good team that plays exciting-but-unreliable basketball. The team defines inconsistency.

Marquette is neither a contender for the Big East title nor, therefore, the national championship.

MU is a solid team with some fine players -- especially Wesley Matthews and Lazar Hayward.

Jerel McNeal has had many terrific moments and, yes, games. But his erratic, out-of-control, sometimes-crazy play on offense often costs Marquette almost as much as it benefits it.

Add the dearth of even one decent big man and you have a pretty good Marquette basketball team that could struggle against any opponent in the Big East tournament and, after that, the NCAA Tournament.

I fear Marquette's four-game losing streak -- albeit against fine teams -- is a harbinger of things soon to come.

I fear if we lose our first game in the BE (a distinct possibility) we will end up an 8 seed. The committee is going to look at our record down the stretch and bury us.

No reasonable person would put Marquette's chances of winning its first game in the Big East tournament at better than 50-50.

Combined with Marquette's four-game losing streak, a loss early in the conference tournament could easily result is MU's being dismissed as overrated earlier in the season or as a team that struggles to win big games -- or both.

I disagree.  We should win our first Big East game.  We just got done playing the 1,2,3 and 6th place teams.

We're now going to pay the 12th place team

We better win

People still aren't getting it......with our second leading All-Time scorer and probably defender out we just aren't that good and can lose to ANYONE on a given night.
