MU locked into fifth seeding

By virtue of Villanova's 97-80 victory over Providence on Thursday night, the Wildcats guaranteed themselves the fourth seeding in the upcoming Big East Tournament in New York next week -- and the bye through the first two rounds that comes with it.

That means the Marquette Golden Eagles are now locked into the fifth spot, meaning they'll get a bye through the first round and then play in the second round at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The tournament, of course, is held at Madison Square Garden.

This is the first season that all 16 teams will take part in the tournament. The first round begins Tuesday.
