What would you do with the last scholarship for 2010?

If Buzz doesn't get another PG we just might be in this same boat again in the near future.

ATWizJr

Gee, do you think Buzz and his staff should be alerted? (teal)

RawdogDX

most people wanted a pg with that spot before last night, i don't see how it effects anything.

Personally I think there is going to be a big roster shake up this off season and next.   IF we can secure commitments from BE caliber players in '09 still like Riley.   Common sense and observation says a shake up is coming since Buzz has been frustrated with lack of quality in the back end of our roster.

Just like left handed pitching in baseball, you can never have enough guards who are good at handling the ball in college basketball.  Get a PG with that last scholarship.  I figured we'd get one anyway, we've got our stock of SF and PF/C for the near future.

I think that has become painfully obvious as you see quite a few players with their butts glued to the bench.

Hey Jr, last I read there were some that didn't think another pg was necessary since Buycks could slide over from SG and play PG.

I'd rather have players playing their natural positions, then being forced to play out of position because the back-up isn't capable (or non-existent).

ATWizJr

I could be in the minority, but I think Buzz and staff are still interested in getting commitments from another big and a PG.

Not only is it painfully obvious that we need a big man, which we will have plenty in the works next year it would be nice to have a spot up shooter like a Novak again. Christopherson was supposed to be that guy, but now he is at Iowa State.

I don't think we have room for a PG *and* a big right?

Clearly Buzz expects at least one guy to leave right?  That is why we are still recruiting Wilson and Riley.  If that guy is Cubillan or Acker, we only get that "extra" spot for one year and we don't have any room until 2011-12 for someone new.  If it is someone like Otule, we do have one additional scholarship for 2010-11.

I think the signing of Clark and recruitment of Riley means that Buzz expects someone young like Otule to be gone and a PG to be signed for the 2010-11 year.

As of this moment, we have one scholarship available for the 2010 class.  We have none available for the 2009 class, so if Riley committs - either someone is leaving off the current team, or someone doesn't get admitted from the 2009 recruits.

Please see the Scholarship Table for reference.
