Well, Mr. Hurley's rerouting of Tyshawn Taylor is absolutely killer tonight.

Great effort by the kids.  Feel terrible for DJ, the team and Buzz.  What a deflated feeling.  Hope they can regroup and not feel sorry for themselves because the challenge in front of them won't be letting up.

Hurley, So. Florida, yada yada yada.

GET OFF IT. For F's sake man. Why even bring it up?

It's done, it's been done. LET IT GO.

i think we will regroup, but this team will struggle mightly w/o James at the point. I see very fews wins from here on out as the schedule is just brutal then rwe go ight into the post season. Just a killer injury..

Because it's even more of a killer now then it was in the Summer.  I know it's done, but as sports fans we always ask "what if".  That's part of being a fan.

Put yourself in TTs shoes...what would you do?

And you've asked it. Hell, you've screamed it. We get the point.

Yeah, he would have helped. Yeah, it would have been great to have Mbakwe. Would have been great to beat USF.

Still not sure what the above accomplished.

T. Taylor & T. Mbakwe would have been here if Tanning Cream wouldn't have left.  It's his fault!

Since we're talking about hypotheticals-- also fair to wonder who many more losses we'd have with Crean as coach?

We're looking at about 6-7 conference losses.  Crean's misuse of Matthews alone would lose us a few games.

What?  We're not talking hypos?

Chicos,

You are absolutely spot on. Taylor would have been a great backup and presented a viable plan B in the event of injury. Our plan B is very shaky now.

whenever i see this nonsense i think of the gatorade (i think, maybe nike) commercial where they showed several famous sports plays IIIIFFFFF they had gone the other way: jordan's hanging J, the immaculate reception, etc.
We can play ifs all morning, evening, night. Taylor not coming to MU is an if that has been exhausted so extensively that its not worth  mentioning. he's not even in the same conference

MarquetteVol

Yep, Taylor would have been perfect. Slide Jerel to pg, slot Taylor in the 2g and it's still a well-oiled machine. I love our program, but still can't blame for Taylor for his decision...he liked Crean...Crean left...had an opportunity to get out of LOI...offered by defending national champs and historical top 5 program...he made a decision that many of us would have made. Still, it burns like hell tonight. I'd certainly take Taylor over Acker or Cooby.

The bigger problem is that Crean really left the cupboard bare. Losing Taylor and Williams sucks, but if we had some talent on the frontline, we could also play Jerel at point, Wes at 2, Lazar at 3, Fictional great post player / Mbakwe at 4, and Burke at 5. Unless, we slot Fulce at the 4...I don't see this working. But, Fulce at the 4 may be an interesting option. We'd certainly get a little bigger with that lineup.

Forget Taylor.

I think Hurley's sales pitch to Crean about Burke was as slick as Rick Pitino's hair on a Saturday night.

Burke (and Cubillan) went to St. Benedict's, Hurley coaches at St. Anthony's.  Can't blame Hurley for this one.

Rollout-the-Barrel

I have to admit Taylor was the second thing I thought about after I heard DJ had broken his 5th metatarsal.  The first was, "Wow.  I can't believe that was the last time DJ will suit up".  Very sad.

I honestly can't believe you people are whining about "what if's?" This thread is a dissapointment.

Buzz coached a great game last night, and Acker really stepped it up. Jerel and Wes showed true leadership in taking on what I think is very clearly the No. 1 team in the country. I think it is very unfortunate that all of you can only think about what could have been, instead of enjoying what is.
