I think we need a win against Syracuse and a first-round BE Tournament win to get a 5 seed. I fear we're going to wind up a 7.

Lunardi keeps putting #10 Ohio State in Dayton. Why? That gives a double digit seed potentially two home games in the first round.

And Michigan in and Providence out?

If the Big Ten gets more teams in than the Big East they should stop running the tournament. Any one of the top four BE teams would go 15-1 in that league.

Was flipping through the channels much earlier this evening and on Dennis Krause's show they had a graphic on the bottom "Big Ten Bashing." So, I stopped on Time Warner Sports. Krause reads a complaint from B11's Bruce Weber defending the conference, style of play etc. Some guy -- Bill Johnson, never heard of him before, apparently he's on 540 -- goes ballistic. Naturally, because this is the state of WI, the conversation devolves into a BE versus B11 argument and Mr. Ballistic can't help himself from screaming in defense of the B11. A more level headed guy, "Hayward," says that while the B11 is not bad there's no way it's competitive with the BE. Krause -- and this might make me stop on the channel now while watching TV once in a while -- says that Georgetown would likely win the B11, there's no doubt that GU is better than some B11 teams that will make the tournament, and there's simply no comparable team in the B11 who has beat Memphis and UCONN type teams.

All Mr. Psycho B11 Backer can do is bitch about the St. John's game GU lost. Honestly, the type of pathetic knee-jerk sensitivity of UW fans (similarly displayed with the same intensity-absent-thought about another state favorite...) is why I can't stand WI.

Let's just see how they do.  When people picked on Nova getting in last year they were all eating crow when they made the Sweet 16.  My guess is Providence-Cincy winner in 2nd round of Big East gets in to make it 8.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

That's funny, I saw that today too and was wondering if anybody else did.

I'm familiar with both those guys, both are on 540. I believe Haywood is a big NBA guy, but he's always seemed to be very complimentary of MU. Seems to have a good relationship with the seniors on the team.

Bill Johnson is the UWM play by play guy on the radio. He's a pretty funny guy on the radio, or at least I think so. But I remember listening to him and Haywood a few nights before the game @ Georgetown a few weeks ago. He kept bashing G'Town and ripping on Haywood for thinking Monroe is so good. He seemed quite sarcastic with a lot of his comments that night. "Oh, Monroe MUST be good, he's in the Big East." His comments that night rubbed me the wrong way.

Back to today's Roundtable show with Krause. I thought his over-reaction about G'Town's loss to St. John's was completely ridiculous. He called them "awful" or "terrible", one or the other.

Listen, G'Town has underachieved this year...but this is a monster league too. It's only been this 16 team mega league for a few years, some people still haven't completely grasped the idea that a few really good teams every year are going to have mediocre records. I think Johnson would have been a lot more accurate calling G'Town inconsistent, rather than terrible. You don't have the wins they have this year without being a talented team.

Minnesota and Michigan play one another today...pending the B10T, the loser will be out, so that's one less team right there.

More importantly...someone needs to explain to me how Providence would not be in ahead of Michigan already.
