For those of you who caught it on TV, they did a pretty good job of heaping praise on Dominic for an incredible 9 assist to 0 turnover 1st half.  He did get pick from behind once in the 2nd half, just not paying attention, but I thought the first half was beautiful with Dominic knowing where everyone was at all times, and Burke flying in from various angles to get 10 points.

I really wasn't worried about the 2nd half.  It was never in doubt.  We looked like a team resting on the court, with full confidence that we could turn it up a notch whenever DePaul got it within single digits.

This year whenever we are not in foul trouble, I feel like we are going to win - and if we aren't in foul trouble leave the Big 4 on the court.

My only concern in holding a lead is that Dominic is the guy who should have the ball to avoid allowing any turnovers, but if he keeps shooting under 50% from the line we have a problem.  After he missed those two freethrows, I swear McNeal tried to lob the ball across the court to Matthews rather than make the easy pass to Dominic, and DePaul stole it and scored at  the other end.  If Dominic can just start hitting 65% plus of freethrows, I think we are fine.  He is having an incredible year otherwise, and making everyone else around him great.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

take the good with the bad.  jerel is the best player on the team and will end his career as MU's all-time leading scorer.  i, for one, will give him a little slack if he makes some mistakes because of his assertiveness.  people need to understand this - i can't believe it isn't obvious.  JEREL'S ROLE ON THIS TEAM IS TO SCORE.  and to score you need to put up a fair amount of shots.

next year when you can't bank on him getting 20 a game you might realize this.

Taking the good with the bad is exceptable when they are physical mistakes.  Mental mistakes like that can not and should not be written off as taking the good witht the bad.  mental mistakes can be eliminated without taking away good attributes.  Disagree witht hat is you would like but it will cost Mu games and Jerel millions of dollars.  Perfect example yes jerel scored 30 against Stnaford, but he took a 30 foot shot with much time on the clock in that game.  Could that have been eliminated and help MU win with out hutrting the rest of his game?   Yes.  Jerel missed 1 shot from 2 point range against Stnaford.  yet was only 3 of 12 from three point land.  IS it too much to ask a player to play to his strengths and shoot less threes and do what he is best at?  No it is not.  Shot fake and dribble drive on 9 of those missed threes and probably 1 goes in.

Same thing yesterday... People say well we really did not play too poorly we jsut missed shots.   Wrong that is a basketball fans assessment as Buzz stated and I state we missed shots becuse we took poor shots.  Dj had 9 assists in the first half and none in the second, we shot three point after three point of the dribble with zero inside outside and a lot of standing around.  When you do that shots will not go in.  3's go in at about a 40% clip off the isside out pass and about 20% off the dribble.  Mu proved that in two distinct halves last night.  yes sometimes you get good shots and they dont go in.  coaches will tkae that.  Buzz was upset with the shots that were taken   as he should have been we were very lazy.  let's hope we dont see that for a while.
