With syracuse, michigan st, and Clemson all losing pretty bad games this week, if marquette takes care of business with Depaul, that is what our rankings should be come monday with our clash with ND

Not for nothin' but, I'm not getting too excited about where we are ranked until the end of our BEast season.

Prior to playing the "steel" of our BEast schedule all these rankings don't mean very much.  Fun to speculate, though.

agree..in 3-weeks we could be out of the top 20.

I was thinking the same thing.  Sure we could drop out of the Top 20 with the brutal end to our conference schedule.

Are we a top 7-8 team?!?  I don't personally think so.  But we have to apologize to no one...teams lose at the right time, and there's no reason for us not to take advantage of the rankings shake-up.

Top 10 is great pub for this team and for a young coach.  Our Big East schedule hasn't been very challenging up to this point, but we've won our games...and that's all that can be asked.

However, Any Big East Win is huge, especially on the road. In the past when we expected to do better than this year we've lost to Providence on the road and Depaul on the road. Now that's saying something that they are coming up with these wins (especially a comeback against Providence) about this team. They are taking the wins while they can which is a huge part of playing a schedule like this... They could surprise everyone I think their confidence in playing together has greatly improved. The only negative I think is the refs in the Big East call such a more physical game, when they start getting into the postseason you might see us get into a lot more foul trouble which will not help Marquette's lineup because of the lack of depth.

+1...The last 5 games will be brutal, but let's take care of DePaul.

Rankings are good for the University, but let's do first things first.  Let's beat DePaul!
GO MARQUETTE!

If ND beats CT, and we beat DePaul and ND, then we would be #6, ahead of UConn and the three you mentioned.  I do think being ranked this high is important.  Recruits have to love the extra coverage, and the more people are looking at MU the better chance we have to sneak out another seed even if we do fall hard those last 5 games.

As for the brutal Big East, I think the win over West Virginia is much bigger than everyone realizes.  They won by 17 AT Georgetown tonight, and we beat them by 27.  I think WVU finishes 5th in the Big East.  Let's get excited about getting as high as we can - it will take more losses to knock us out the higher we get before losing again.
