I turned the television off in disgust at our defense after we were down double digits with about 10:00 left in the second half assuming a loss.   What happened, did our defense turn up the heat and actually come to life?  Or just an offensive barrage?

Daniel

Buzz went fast and small, and our defense and offense were awesome the last 10 minutes or so.   Very exciting.

You quit on this team.......why?   They never give up, senior leadership won't allow it.   Great win, the guys are continuing to play well.

even if we were down 25 I would have kept watching

MR.HAYWARD

yaeh I dont know what to say in 30 years of watching Mu ball i have never left a game beffore the buzzer or turned a game off before it.  Never will either.

Big Papi

I did it once out of choice and that was the Michigan State NCAA game.  It was way too painful to watch us not be able to score.

Daniel

I, also, always stay or watch til the very end - sometimes it's painful, but you never know what could happen.  This was one of those games that would have been easy to turn off - but with the 3 pointer, and 14 or so minutes left - a lifetime to catch up.

Al McGuire used to say, "A minute is a lifetime in college basketball."  Lots could happen!

IAmMarquette

The only time I've left a game early was when we played against Southern Miss in Green Bay, and only then because the crowd I was with wanted to leave. wade_favre can attest that I wasn't happy with the group's decision.

MR.HAYWARD

oh i agree with that, i never felt we were out of that game as badly as we played defensively which includes rebounding we were always agonizingly close.  As frusrtating as it can be cutting 11-12 point leads to 6 and then giving up second chance points or what have you until it goes back to 14 etc, i never felt it was over luckily we had that run.  But i never felt like i did against MSU or some of those games when memphis or louisville beat us by 30-40!  i watched those games too but knew we never had a chance last night I never felt we were out of it.  If it was not Providence i might have felt differently but Prov. is the weakest team mentally in the NCAA's 4 years running.

nycwarrior

Just watched the game again. And it was just as nice the second time. Especially at the end.

2 minutes left, tied at 79. ball screen up top and mcneal for 3.

deep 3 from providence is boarded by acker who got way way up and made a great outlet to james to start a 3 on 1 break that matthews converted into a hoop and some harm.

acker stole the inbounds and it was over.

best bench game of the year when you consider acker, fulce and butler's contributions. more of that please.

Stone Cold, your fanhood is being questioned.  What will you be doing to restore the boards faith?

How about you commit to raise one dollar for every second you bailed on for al's run?

lab_warrior

I think the only time I bailed on us was that '97 NCAA game against PC...what a debacle, Croshere made that 500 ft half court shot, Deane was in his usual screaming form, and I really just wanted to go to Hegarty's, so I peaced out of that one with about 5 min. to go.

The Final Four game against Kansas was IMPOSSIBLE to watch through the end on TV, so I applaud any of you that managed to do it.  I did not make it to the end of that game.  I was at an NCAA watching party for the MU-PC Austin Croshere debacle, and the NY CBS station mercifully switched to another game at half time with sporadic look-ins, so I can say that I didn't bail on it but I certainly would have been tempted.   I was in Mexico working during the Michigan State-Marquette game and DVR'd it to watch the next day when I got back home, but never bothered to watch it, based on everyone telling me how awful and depressing it was.  Life's too short, you know?

So I have no problem with a fan who bails on a game when the math doesn't work and there is no legitimate chance.  You're down 13 with 2 minutes to go or 30 with 10 minutes to go you're not coming back.  While I was not too enthusiastic about our chances down 61-48 Saturday, there was still enough time left to make a run.
