MUScoop needs a beat the dead horse section for threads like this. We were oversubscribed by 1 scholarship and one of the kids gets caught with dope or is in a car with dope. It's a no brainer which kid gets cut.
The subject of the thread should be what if Saunders wasn't such a bonehead? MU made the right decision. Let's move on and hope the kid has a great life.

Love how you say "let's move on" only after you rehash the entire episode.

Besides, the word we got was that Saunders didn't qualify academically, which was absurd.

Wait, are you saying the athletic dept. under the former coach wasn't always truthful? ;D

are you referring to telling Tyshawn Taylor that Dominic James was going pro?

You mean like when previous regimes said Keith Stewart had a tooth ache when he was actually transferring?  Or the original statement put out regarding Tony Reeder which turned out to be academic failure.  Or several whacky tobacky incidents and how those were "disguised"....I've got news for you, name me one coach in the last 40 that didn't fudge information ..... you can't because it always happened.  The stories are endless and they happen in every program.

Not arguing that other coaches didn't withold or stretch the truth. Clearly they all do. But, under Crean, some of us learned not to believe anything that either came out of his mouth or the athletic dept. He lacked total credibility.

I have a feeling that Hazel may average 10 pts at Duquesne.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Yeah, no more crying over spilled/spoiled milk!  Besides, there are plenty of other, :D more productive what-if scenarios I prefer to envision :D

I posted about Saunders a couple weeks ago.  My opinions were/are that it's unfortunate the b.s. excuse to turn someone down was given to him especially now that Mbakwe and Christopherson left, we'd be at a whole 'nother level with this guy as good as he is now; as you can tell by him starting at the 5 and putting up huge numbers against quality opponents, but he wouldn't have become half the player he is if he was on our teams last year and this year anyway.
