1) Anyone here planning on going to the January 3 Timberwolves Shootout? Maymon will be there.

Featured Teams
• No. 23 Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.)
• Osseo (Osseo, Minn.)
• Madison Memorial (Madison, Wis.)
• Robbinsdale Cooper (New Hope, Minn.)

Featured Players
• ESPNU 100 No. 23 Royce White (Hopkins), Sr.
• Trent Lockett (Hopkins), Sr.
• Mike Broghammer (Hopkins), Sr.
• Sam Dower (Osseo), Sr.
• ESPNU 100 No. 76 Jeronne Maymon (Madison Memorial), Sr.
• ESPNU 100 No. 29 Rodney Williams (Robbinsdale Cooper), Sr.

Breakdown
The must-see team at this event is No. 23 Hopkins. It will feature a number of big-time players who have signed with major programs. Hopkins is led by the state's No. 1 player, Minnesota signee Royce White. White is a physical slasher and rebounding machine. Notre Dame landed Hopkins' rugged and powerful forward Mike Broghammer. He can score inside and out to about 15 feet and can rebound all day long. Hopkins guard Trent Lockett will display his midrange game and attacking style at Arizona State. White's future teammate at Minnesota is Rodney Williams, who is a similar player; he's a super-athletic wing. Marquette-bound Jeronne Maymon is another athletic forward who excels in transition and slashing to the rim.

2) Any thoughts about recruiting Marcus Jordan (MJ's son) from Whitney Young? Nice PR and pub, no?

QuoteMadison Memorial finished 23-3 last season, losing in the state championship game. Jeronne Maymon, a 6-6, 230-pound forward who signed with Marquette...

I thought Maymon was taller than 6-6, is that his "officially" listed height?

Big Papi

I think 6-6 sounds right but the key is that he plays bigger than that.

Not a chance.  His brother stinks at Illinois too.  And from what I hear, daddy is a pain in the ass with the coaching staff.

His brother is awful though.  From what I hear the younger Jordan is actually decent.  Not MJ, but a lot better than his older brother.

I wouldn't go as far as to call Jeffrey Jordan awful....although, he definitely is not high D-1 material....I'm pretty sure he got scholarship offers to Loyola and Valpo...but opted to take the preferred walk-on route at U of I.  You're right...Marcus is a player.  He's a couple inches taller and some think he's got decent D-1 prospects.  That said, and I've been a huge MJ fan, I could do without his nonsense surrounding MU's program.

Marcus is not a high d-1 talent.  He has more physical gifts, compared to Jeff, but is a lower level talent.  He would do well at a Horizon league school being the Man, but would be out recruit at a higher level.  From what I have been told, Jeff also has a much better head on his shoulders.

I don't know about that.  He's likely not going to be a star at one the better high major schools.  But he's talented enough that he could be the best player on one of the bottom feeders in a BCS conference, or he could be a contributor off the bench at a top school.  He's got offers from places like like Miami, Iowa State, Nebraska,  and Penn State.  That's probably the right level for him.

FWIW, the Bullseye Brothers have listed him as the 5th best player in Illinois in 2009, and they generally know what they are talking about.
