Is it just me or does everyone has a fickle relationship with the bballers?  Honestly, after awhile it gets tiresome to hear bash/bash/bash, he's not NBA material, no way, bad decision maker, can't shoot, can't rebound, can't finish, can't defend, jackin' up threes, turnover supreme, he sucks, no progress, yadayadayada morph [for example, at the drop of a key 3 pointer] into he's amazing! he dribbles, he shoots, he scores! All-American/playmaker/team-carrier/clutch/way better than we underestimated him to be/we'll overlook his shortcomings cuz he's had 1 redeeming game lately/ NBA-defining moment?!?!!! and then continually yo-yo betwixt the two.

Some games, some guys perform at an amazing echelon and I won't deny it.  Some games, some guys don't even seem to show up to play.

Whatever the case is, this board frequently lives and dies by the sword, and so often I am reading threads and [talk about seeing the same movie over and over] the tone is typically "feast or famine", game in and game out; and maybe not just about the players either, but it really, really starts to get tired how hard we come down on the players, sometimes, only to turn around and sing their praises.

Like the rest of us, I live game to game too, I too obsess, critique, nitpick, browbeat, belabor, despair, detest; but overall I know we have good players which, when the timing is right, can become great.  Keep the faith, it's the right time of year  :)

Could you give an example of what you mean?

The impetus for this thread was Nic's recent heroics @ NC State w/ his amazing triple of 3pointers.  His is a great example in general, as is Jerel.  Probably what it comes down to is that people are more critical of some players than others.  Which is just fine, that's what opinions and the 1st amendment are for.  I was just getting a little peckish cuz it seems like we just come down quite hard on our players sometimes, specifically our cherished ones.  Maybe we're all becoming more aware of their ticking clocks for wearing the blue & gold jerseys and want them to perform their best to lead MU to basketball glory.  Or maybe not.
