People are not talking about how for the third straight game David Cubillan has been limited to a total of 3 minutes on the stat sheet.  3 minutes in 3 games!

Does anyone have any insight, besides how bad he has been playing, as to why this is?

Is he in Buzz's doghouse or does he just plain stink?

My thoughts were also that he might have been involved in the Murphey's fight and this could be his pennance.

He has never been that great at taking the ball to the rack and right now, due to shoulder surgery, his shot is off.    I think he isn't playing his best ball and Buzz doesn't feel he can be patient with him.

Most of the team (if not all of them) were at Murphy's following the UW game (as was I). Not sure what started it, but a shouting/shoving match started in the back corner near the men's bathroom. I couldn't see who started it, but the crowd involved (including several members of the team) eventually moved its way out of the bar. Wouldn't really call it a fight. Not much to worry about, IMO.

so it has taken two weeks for this to come up? I was hoping it wouldnt come up at all. These guys dont need that kind of attention. I was there and IAmMarquette's description was fairly accurate. Cubillan took offense to what an MU kid, wearing a Badger shirt, had to say about the outcome of the game. I wont say who started it or who was involved and what happened as I think that this is something that doesnt need to be brought out and let people make their misguided assumptions to what happened and rumors starting. The grand scheme is that cube's didnt like what a kid said, got a little mad and when the rest of the team saw what was happening they backed Cubes. Myself and bar staff difused the situation before anything happened and got the players out of there, with great help from wes, jerel and others, before anything major happened. Just arguements and bad looks, no punches or anything.

to bring this back on topic, as i posted yesterday, someone was saying that Cubillan is gonna transfer after this year. Probably from his lack of play or maybe just plain not getting along with Buzz.

MU kid wearing a Badger shirt....WTF has happened to my school?  This was mildly tolerated during football season, but not during basketball season.  What happened to policing our own....come on MU students, take out the trash!!  This guy should have been refused service the second he walked into Murphs.




A lot of talk on the other board about Cube transferring, actually the talk is only coming from one poster but he is rather firm on this claims.

Cubes is a 6'0" shooting guard who doesn't shoot the ball all that well and is struggling to be effective on the defensive end in Buzz's d.   He was effective with Crean but not Buzz on D.  Why that is, I don't know for sure.  But given the reality it's not too surprising that a transfer could be likely.

For what its worth:

I was not there....but had multiple friends who were and said either David or Dominic hit the kid who mouthed off.

Like I said, could all be false, but that is the word flying around campus.

he's more of a hands on defender than a quick defender.  Crean preached getting your hands in passing lanes and deflections while Buzz wants the team to use their feet to get their bodies into position to defend.  Cubie doesn't have as much lateral quickness and is undersized to play the 2 so he doesn't fit into Buzz's system as well.

wow the staff has become a bunch of pansy's. hell, we used to take natedawgs ID just because he struggled at life. you should have at least taunted him with the mike or thrown ice them like he was a bad karaoke singer.

It's not the comments I take offense to, it's wearing a rodent shirt the day of the Rodent-Warriors game all while attending MU as a student.   Where is McCarthy when you need him.  Time to hold public hearings and out these people.

There was a time you would get your *ss kicked out of pure principal for wearing a badger shirt while attending MU.  Props to cubes.

Also, I wouldn't mess with Cubillan....he strikes me as a scrappy little rock that could make some noise in a bar fight.
