For those who think the college game is guard oriented, Dayton just exposed MU and scored tons in the paint.

This was the same team we've seen the past four years. There isn't any surprise here. I'm not smart enough to know why or how, but this team, that seems to be fairly talented, has always had a knack for winning and losing by big numbers and looking pretty ridiculous in the losses.

I hoped that the big three being seniors, and knowing this was their last shot would change things, or that a new coach would inspire some new plays, but it hasn't. We can only hope that the new crop of young men coming in live up to potential.

You realize that Dayton's top two scorers in the game were guards right?

4everwarriors

Sure I do. They beat our trifecta and then walked right thru the lane for a lay-up.

The Dayton guards did drive and no one there to block shots.  Lazar fought like heck in the paint, but got in foul trouble.  That left us with three Amigos to shoot from outside. Not good. With Burke useless, this may be a common sight.  I don't even want to think what Tennessee will do to us with their skilled bigmen.  Chism, Smith, Woolridge, Prince, all 6'7 and above.  I hope Maymon grows two inches, we need a power forward enforcer type.

I too find it interesting that their guards had such an easy time w the three amigos covering them.  Also curious  what we could have done to stop their penetration off the dribble.  It was an obvious play after the third drive.  And what happened to Hayward tonight?  He finished w/ maybe 5 points and a couple boards.

Yeah, if it's guard-oriented we're still beat.  Considering our guards were dominated by a Juco player.  I think we have to stop figuring out how to play with a four-man team and have the other five players in the lineup do something besides take up space and play cheerleader to the "Big Four".  Why are Cubillan and Acker even setting foot inside the arc?  Then again, we're so desperate for size they might be playing the four or five and I didn't catch that...

Let me see if i got this right:
Our all world point guard was( at one time) 3/9 from the line
His running mate took over 20 shots
    Team had 10 assists total
    Dayton had how many layups?
Our bench had 5 points--all when the game was over
No effort on D at all
Dayton's leading scorers started the game on the bench
Our vaunted guards gave up how many points to the Dayton guards?

Just a terrible embarrassing performance by all

At one point Dayton's bench was outscoring ours 41-0. Stunning. Their six-seven-eight guys were better than our starters.
