One of my friends just passed this on to me. Seems like Louie, of "Louie D's" fame, passed away this past August:

It's too bad. I remember spending many an afternoon there, just hanging out and chatting with Louie. I had been to his new Chicago restaurant (Niko's Gyros, at Elston/Diversey) a few times too. Real great guy, loved all things MU during his time up here.

Niko's.. hrm.. did he also own the Niko's gyros at Thomas and Rand in Arlington Heights too?

Just the place in Chicago, I think.

That is too bad.  Louie was a great guy, and could make a mean plate of cheese fries.
