depiste all the cryptic acronyms he uses, Gwaki is exactly right.

I had to disable chat and reboot the server (chat causes too many database queries).

For those geeks out there, here were our 1, 5 & 15 min load averages right before I rebooted...
load average: 100.69, 52.80, 29.99

Which basically means, the CPU was overloaded by 1000% on a one minute basis.  Not good.
