MU to host Colorado State-Pueblo In Exhibition Saturday At 1 p.m.

Milwaukee - The No. 16/17 Marquette University men's basketball team will host Colorado State-Pueblo in its lone exhibition game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Bradley Center.

The Golden Eagles will tip-off against Houston Baptist in the regular season opener on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Marquette returns 84.3 percent of the team's scoring from last year, led by 2008-09 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team selection Jerel McNeal and Preseason BIG EAST Honorable Mention honoree Dominic James. McNeal led the team with 14.9 ppg. last season and James finished the 2007-08 campaign with 12.9 ppg and 4.4 apg.

Colorado State-Pueblo, a NCAA Division II program, looks to improve their record against Division I programs. Since 2003, CSU-Pueblo is 1-6 against DI teams, with its lone win coming against University of Denver on Nov. 4, 2006. Of the 16 players on the CSU-Pueblo roster, nine transferred from a community college, junior college, or other university. The Thunderwolves are led by senior transfer Rome Smith, who was a 2007-08 All-RMAC Second Team selection after averaging a team-leading 13.1 ppg.

Current Thunderwolves head coach Pat Eberhart and Marquette's Buzz Williams were both assistant coaches under Golden Eagles assistant Dale Layer during his head coaching tenure at Colorado State from 2001-2004. CSU-Pueblo assistant coach James Miller also served as a student manager under Layer at Colorado State.
