Palin was the team captain of her high school basketball team that won the State Championship.  Their team mascot then and still.....WASILLA WARRIOR!

rocky_warrior

Wow...that's close to the line regarding "no politics" - but you did mention Warriors, so I'll leave it.  I'll even keep it on the Al.

Though if it strays into a political discussion, it'll disappear faster than you can say [insert irrelevant former presidential candidate here].

denverMU

Not meant to be political I just think it's great someone in America still has the guts to keep the nickname WARRIORS!!

Golden State nee Philadelphia has had it for a LOOOOOOOONG time.
SS Marquette

only a warrior

Heck, Warriors isn't that bad when you compare it to the Redskins.  C'mon.

pbiflyer

Well, they were going to change the nickname to a color, but somehow the Wasilla White just didn't go over.  ;D

Our son's Whitewater team played Wisconsin Lutheran College last week.
Their nickname.  Warriors of course.
Maybe "western schools", as in west of 27th St, don't have the same Native American issues

Did/do they have a Native American mascot?  Also, I doubt they have postseason aspirations.  I think Warriors is way cooler than Golden Eagles, but I also think playing in the tournament every year is way cooler than rooting for the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors as they watch the tournament on tv every year.

I was paging through ESPN the mag while getting my oil changed...there's a photo of someone's arm (using that term loosely) with a Marquette Warriors tattoo.....

Sir Lawrence

Ludum habemus.

ToddPacker

Speaking of the whole Warrior issue, did anyone see the past ESPN the Magazine photo spread of fan tattoos?  There is, I am sure much to the chagrin of the administration, a picture with a Willie Wampum tattoo.  The tattoo looks really well done too, btw.  I tried to find the picture somewhere online, but I was unable to do so.  ESPN the Mag is pretty much garbage, but I get it free as an "insider" or whatever.

I guess this isn't politics, so I will keep my mouth shut on the issue... however

how the hell does this stay in "Hangin at the Al"?? and crap about our former players gets booted?

Come on admins, gimme a break  ;D

Resistance is not tolerated, consider this your first warning.  ;D
Once a warrior always a warrior.. even if the feathers must now come with a beak.

This the funniest video I've seen in 2008.  Hands down.

That's not politics.  That's humor.

I should have known better than to second-guess a Mod!  ;)

She was also a journalism major, and there are still some of us who didn't want to give up the College of Journalism to become part of the School of Communications :-)
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Wow....if that's the " funniest video"......

"  GET A LIFE "   !!!!

Ah, I see.   So, Saturday Night Live .. when they do all those parodies of the Clintons .. Obama .. Bush, Cheney, ad infinitum ..  that's really politics and not humor?   "Really."

Clearly, that's an example of political speech.

Ah, fantastic.  I can see where this is going.

I posted my example of political humor, which trends one way, Chicos posted his that trends the opposite.

We have balance, and a lock.
