ESPN just listed their top cities for high school basketball recruits, HOUSTON made the top 6!  It is nice to have an inside track to all that talent, ;D

"Greater Houston set a national record in 2006 with the most seniors from a single city (43) to pledge / sign with D1 schools. Not New York, not LA, or any other city have exceeded that number. Last season we had (38) to ink with D1 colleges totalling (81) during a two year span."

And we are poised to have two Top 5 Houston Area players incoming...but don't you dare call this the best class in 25 year...you'll be insulting Scott Merritt! (and his spin move)!

Buzz' pipeline to Texas is huge and it's already paying some nice dividends.  I admit that I was a detractor at first, but the hire looks better and better every day.

Houston is very deep in basketball talent but those 80+ recruits may have been inflated a bit due to families that relocated to Houston after the Hurricanes hit Louisiana/Texas.

Houston is the 4th largest city in the country in population, seems to make some sense that on a statistical front they would produce that many.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.  Dallas is a large city, but doesn't produce as many for example.

Actually, if you include the metro area, Dallas is a little bigger than Houston.

Regardless, I would have thought Madison, Racine, Milwaukee, LaCrosse  and Appleton would have been given some consideration for this list. From what I've read around here, Marquette cannot succeed without players from those areas.   ;)

Correct, the metro Dallas area is 4th.  I was going simply on city limits.

Here is hoping Aki can make some big in roads back east especially in DC and Philadelphia where we haven't' had a recruit from in awhile. But as long as we continue to be a national player we will be good. I wouldn't' mind having a Marquette based chapter of Phi Slamma Jamma one day of players form the Houston Area. Makes you wonder how University of Houston coudl be so bad now for so long.
