Neither did Dwight Howard, and he won the dunk contest this year.

correct. Back then the dunk was illegal.

Not quite......Dunking was outlawed in college hoops from 1967 through 1976.

Dunk...throwing the ball into the hoop...is there really any difference?

he went up for a lay-in, his arm got hit, the ball went off the back rim and he hit it again while it was in the cylinder. It might have been offensive interference, it might have been a foul...It was not a dunk.

couldn;t espn find a picture of that play?  That one certainly didn't like it.

No love for Bryce Drew?  I would think that was a big shot since it is shown in 95% of all NCAA musical montages.

A shot that put Valpo in the Sweet 16......same with James Forrest's shot in 1992 when GaTech beat USC.  U.S. Reid's half-court shot to beat Ville in 1981 - - great shots all, but too early in the tourney to be top 10 all-time IMHO.  I'd argue the Edney shot should not be included in the top 10  -- much less #2 -- for the same reason (that was as 2nd round game and UCLA was the heavy favorite).

Forde should have included Tate George's shot over Edney's -- at least George's winner against Clemson sent UConn to the Elite 8.  Edney's shot was reminiscent of Danny Ainge's winner against Digger's crew -- and that was left off too.....(odd because BYU was the underdog in that game too)

Its good list, but Edney's shot is out of place on it (esp being that high).

Yeah it was a 2nd round game, but when you consider that UCLA went on to win the title, that shot becomes a lot more important.  Without it, we may be talking about the Arkansas dynasty of the 1990s.

I have always maintained that it was offensive intereference (which I think was called offensive goaltending at the time) b/c the ball definitely goes off the backboard then hits the back of Whitehead's hand which had entered the basket on his follow through.
