just doing cursory searches, I can't remember seeing this many ranked kids mentioning MU with interest.
perhaps my memory fails me ( ) but I'm seeing what seems like a couple per week just on the scout site.

here's another I just spotted there- granted no or few stars, but what the heck_

in the past it seemed like we might have 1 or two potentials ranked 4 stars maybe--- but mostly 3, 2 star kids?? perhaps.

the sheer number of recruits that state they have interest in MU is so very encouraging.

you get this sort of 'menu' every year and you're bound to find and land a big winner-
of course you can't get most, as they are also mentioning some big schools (another great sign), but a foot in the door is bound to yield results eventually.

Alexander was another prospect who emerged at this event, putting himself among the nation's elite at his position. Alexander has a long, rangy frame with considerable bounce -- he had some impressive dunks in transition -- to his game. At first glance, I noticed how active he was in and around the basket due to his athleticism. However, he was quite selfish with his shot selection as well -- at least early on in camp. He has deep range on his jump shot and gets great lift on it. At this stage of his development, he is more of a catch-and-shoot type; he has tendency to struggle when defenders get into him. He needs to get stronger and more physical in the paint area, but his face-up 4-man skills are pretty solid at this point. Overall, he was one of the top wing-types I've seen in the Class of 2010 and appears to have a bright future.

Assuming he grows some he could be a nice PF.

Al was hardly the greatest recruiter. In fact, the last few years he basically phoned it on recruiting. Al burned out quiclky on that game.

What are you talking about? Al was recruiting for what was then an asphalt campus and an ancient BB facility and he still brought in blue chipper after blue chipper from locally and a thousand miles away ------that supported the second best program in the nation over a 10 year span.

He didn't take a back seat to anyone when it came to recruiting!

But, Murff, Al was tiring out and he saw the end coming for his style of coaching and recruiting.  Thats why he left when he did.  Al was no dummy, he knew the score.  He was finding it harder to recruit.  Time for you, Murff, to understand as well.  Al was a guy for his time and his time passed.  But, Al was a smart guy and understood what was going on.  Most people never understand that the world is changing for them.  Al did.  Plain and simple.

not so sure about that nukeem.  Al was a n absolute legend and kids want oto play for legends.  You really dont think Al could have continued to bring them in especially after winning a title?  please,  even Al said a number of times had he known he was going to win it all he would have never retired.  His recruitng was not falling off he handed hank the #1 team in the country the year ftaer winning it all.

I love Al, but if his method was so fool proof, why aren't other coaches doing it? Probably because Al was one-of-a-kind and nobdy can do things like he did.

Exactly, 2002mualum. I am old enough to remember when MU put all its recruiting eggs into the Scooter McCray basket (late 1970s). McCray bolted for Louisville and left us with no fall back recruits. The reality today with high major teams is to target a number of quality recruits and go from there. Al was one-of-a-kind, but it was a much different era.

Al was a super recruiter during his time, but then coaches like Crum caught up etc. Times changed, independents to conferences, racial issues in the USA, diversity in black players going south. Al would still do very good in todays world as he had a pulse of what is going on and just knew how to communicate. IMO with AAU, contracts like Nike etc, he would say hell with all of it and not hang around as long as he he did.
