In the past the boys side was always grouped by class ie seniors to be, juniors to be,  now it appears they are being grouped as u17, U16 etc.  Is this a changed that has been made?

From the AAU website:

The "Age Division Calculator"

Quote
For example, an athlete born, September 15, 1991, would be age eligible to play in the 16U/10th Grade Division in 2008.  If the same athlete is a 9th Grade student as of March 1, 2008, he would be eligible to play 15U/9th Grade as a Grade Exception.

There is also a "Grade Exception" form that an athlete can fill out... but I'm not 100% sure what the form is for.
