why so many people on this board want to hire a young, hotshot, coach to replace Crean?  Is it so he can go replace Crean at Indiana in 5 years?  Why not higher an older guy (let's say 58 or so), who has proven he can win (over 300 wins), has east coast ties (New York), and will look at MU as a destination not a stepping stone?    Welcome Coach McKillop!!!

My guess is because the majority of the people have no idea who McKillop is. Actually, I think the frustration for MU fans is that seemingly every candidate has major question marks.

Absolutely agree Coobey. Once we realize that the top guys (Miller, Bennett, etc.) are not coming, and I have no reason to believe they weren't pursued, we are left with a less than appealing bunch. Any one of these guys can be a home-run hire. However, any-one of these guys can also be a swing and miss strike-out. Can McKillop get it done recruiting wise? I absolutely do not want to see a Mike Deane do-over. But for his recent run in the NCAA tournament, would McKillop even be on our radar? Same can be asked of Buzz. But for his joining the MU staff, would he have garnered an interview?

There are just to many unknowns with all the remaining candidates. Not a great year to lose a coach, that is for sure.
