Has anyone heard Lavin's name officially mentioned anywhere? I think he'd be just a good a candidate as anyone. Or Krueger (who supposedly said he's not leaving UNLV).

lab_warrior

NO!!  No Lavin.  He was awful at UCLA.

MUinOH

Only if Bill Cartwright is unavailable.  ;)

bilsu

He was awful by UCLA standards, but generally at least got to the second round of NCAA tournament.

LA Muskie

Lavin got thrown to the wolves at UCLA.  He never should have gotten the job so young -- he wasn't really ready for it.  That said, he's still a pretty solid basketball mind and I think he'll do just fine when he decides to return to coaching.  But from what I hear he is enjoying his broadcasting career right now, especially since it supposedly is still being subsidized by the UCLA buyout...
