an honest question...
« on: April 05, 2008, 01:37:49 PM »
why on God's green earth are Mckillop and Lowery considered?  Now before anyone says well you are just tearing them down becuase you want BUzz that is not the case.  I want Buzz yes but guys like a Brownell would be a good choice too.  But againe why Lowery or Mckillop.  McKillop has a mediocre career at a low major and then potentially gets the MU job because he landed and undersized underr recruited kid that obvoisuly the bog boys misevaluated?  20+ years of nothingness parlayed into a job onto the back of one player?  is that not part of the criticsism of Crean.

Lowery would be even worse he is the Mike Deane of SIU, a program built on the backs of predescessors that has slipped downhill since he has taken over.  that warrants a look from  mu?  Pianter sure weber, desserved but Lowery?!!

I think you're being way too tough on Lowery. The Salukis definitely took a step back this year, but in the previous three under Lowery they won 78 games. Other coaches' players or not, that shows the man has some pretty solid acumen when it comes to Xs and Os.

What's more, he's recruited at SIU far better than Deane ever did at Marquette.

SIU's 2008 class includes Anthony Booker, a four-star power forward who Rivals ranks as the 29th best player in the nation (Scout has him at #54). I think we could use a guy like that at Marquette, maybe.
The class also includes Kevin Dillard, a point guard who was the Chicago Sun-Times' player of the year and rated #135 by Rivals. Scout gives Dillard three stars and lists him as the #20 PG in the country.
A top 30 player and a top 150 player at SIU is a great recruiting class.
