"True, Weber probably doesn't like how quickly some fans have turned on him. But he's been in the business long enough to understand how rapidly those same fans can be turned back the other direction.

Look at the Internet reaction to Crean's departure at Marquette. The same yahoos who ballyhooed him as the second coming in 2003 when he took Marquette to the Final Four were ready to drive him to the state line and kick him in the seat of his pants Tuesday when he betrayed them and bolted for Indiana."

I don't want to disrespect central Illinois' #1 news source, but this guy has no frickin' clue.  That was a horrible article.  I don't think Bruce Weber is coming, nor do I think he should, but the reasons he gave were quite stupid.  Coaches obviously don't stay just because they have a good incoming recruiting class - and that's the only reason he gave.

And he also has no clue about the reasons behind that quote below.  Although I do agree with him that the reaction has been quite interesting.  Hell, I loved Crean and I was ready to string him up within hours.

I loved the guy, too and thought he did a great job.  I think I speak for many, however, who do not begrudge him the opportunity to move up but feel that the smarmy way he left was disrespectful to MU, his players, and the fans.  This air of desperation and suddnedess in his leaving makes me wonder if there are some time bombs out there yet to be discovered.

You mean like Trevor "The Savior" Mbakwe transferring for a family reason that has nothing to do with TC's departure?  TM's injury was TC's built in excuse this year (2005 Travis, 2006 Amo, 2007 Jerel) and if TM left he would never be able to prove how much of a difference he would have made.  I realize it's a little far fetched and honestly any of us would have taken IU, but you do wonder if some bodies will start popping up.

Let's not forget that Crean offered one of our incoming freshman after a 5 minute workout and the other one is joined with Buzz Williams at the hip. You think these kids are still going to show up on campus?

I guess that's the problem when our coach didn't actually recruit our players...the guy who had been here for a few months used old contacts to draw them in.

But Crean was one of the top 3 recruiters in the country.

Regardless, if we're that much of a house of cards, then Crean wasn't doing to program building that everybody claimed.
