I know this may sting now, but he's better off gone.  I know we all at Pitt were a bit breathless when Howland left after signing a big extension, but these things happen.  I have every confidence that Marquette will bring in another great coach.  Remember this is the Big East - a VERY attractive destination.  Short story, after Howland left, there was a nasty little incident with Skip Prosser, who verbally accepted the Pitt job then reneged after being informed that the BE was "going down". (This happened a month or so before the ACC raid.)  After blowing in the wind a bit (our AD left at the same time), the job was offered to Dixon and it all worked out.  I think your program will also land on its feet.  Keep in mind, Marquette basketball has a great rep.  Good Luck!  Keep your chins up!

BTW - I have ALWAYS disliked IU.  Not sure why, but just another reason to dislike them more.
