"According to the report, Horn's contract with the Hilltoppers has a buyout clause of $200,000 and requires the school that hires the coach to play WKU four times."

Is it me or is that just bizarre?  Was that included in the contract as a way of telling Horn, if you ever leave us we will haunt you after you are gone!!!

Congratulations to Darrin

I know the condition of playing the team that hires the WKU coach was in the previous coash's contract, Felton who went to Georgia.   Not typical but likely enforcable.

I think its pretty much a brilliant clause. Even if you lose your head coach you guarantee the next head coach a game against an (assumably) major conference team, giving your team a chance to make a statement and boost their tourney resume for either seeding or an at-large bid.

First off congrats to Darrin! Great to see him work his way up the ranks.
I really like that clause requiring his new school to play them. It's a great way to pull in some more media attention after the coach has moved on to bigger and better things. I'm sure at least one of those games (probably two) are going to be at WKU. That's a great chance for a notable win for that program in a couple years.

Great for him, however, i fear he has just pulled an O'Neil. The program at S. Carolina is a mess. Odem  was almost fired 2 years ago, announced this was his last year, so he has not had any recruits in the last 2 years.  has relied on transfers to put a team together.  A football school w/ little in state talent. Clemson, ACC, gets most of the good players.

A shame Horn didn't wait for a better opening.

Horn was great  for Marquette and wish him well  but just don't like the fit.

Great for Darrin.  He jumps up to a big conference that is in a down cycle.  Not as risky as in other years perhaps.

So, Buzz to WKU to keep the TC connection alive?

I'm a touch surprised by this, but have to say happiness galore for Darrin.  Another one of the good guys I had the chance to work with (Buckley still the all-time GOOD GUY followed closely by Stephens).  The fact that WKU was losing some pretty good kids probably helped him make that decision.
