SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has filed for divorce from her husband of 34 years.

Noem, who was tasked with leading President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown from January 2025 to March 2026 and previously served as South Dakota's governor, is seeking a divorce from Bryon Noem in their home state. The two married in May 1992 and have three children.

The filing, made in April but posted online on Monday, comes after questions arose earlier this year about the nature of Kristi Noem's relationship with a top adviser. The complaint, filed in Hamlin County, notes "irreconcilable differences" as grounds for the divorce.

In a statement, Kristi Noem's attorney confirmed she has filed for divorce and said she will reserve further comments for the legal process. Lawyers for Bryon Noem did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A day before Noem was ousted from her post in Trump's cabinet, members of Congress questioned her about an alleged extramarital affair with Corey Lewandowski, a special government employee and one of the secretary's lead advisers. He was Trump's first campaign manager in 2016 and appeared to play an outsized role in Noem's department, even though his position was supposed to have a limit on days worked.

Amina Seck, the Kentucky State women's basketball player who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Aug. 7, is expected to be released from federal custody within 24 hours, her lawyers told The Athletic on Tuesday.

Seck's attorney, Hishem Alsalman, said her bond was set at $2,500 at a hearing Tuesday, and once that amount is posted, Seck will be free to leave the Grayson County Detention Center, where she's being held as she awaits her next immigration hearing.

ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Seck, a native of Senegal, also had her master hearing with an immigration judge Tuesday to present the basics of her immigration case. Her next hearing was supposed to occur Thursday, but with her impending release, Seck will be moved from the detained docket to the non-detained docket. Her attorneys said that would likely push her next immigration hearing past Nov. 20.

Seck, 26, was arrested by ICE at Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, Ky., while traveling with her team to a tournament in New York. During her two months in custody, she was moved four times and was hospitalized after passing out while detained.

An off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman and her father after he was found sleeping on their California lawn, according to police.

The father shot the agent during the altercation, wounding him, police said.
The incident occurred early Friday in Fresno, police said. The woman arrived home to find the ICE agent sleeping on her front lawn, according to the Fresno Police Department, which identified the federal agent as 32-year-old David Gonzalez of Texas.

The woman told her 72-year-old father, with whom she lives, and he "went outside to send Gonzalez on his way," Fresno police said in a statement. When Gonzalez woke up, he "appeared intoxicated and agitated" and allegedly assaulted the father, police said.

"When the victim's daughter tried to intervene on her father's behalf, Gonzalez physically attacked her, at which time she went to the ground," police said.
