This morning on 105.7, Doug Gottlieb shared they are close to finalizing an exhibition game against MU in Green Bay. Would be the weekend of a gold package Packers game, so either Sat 10/10 or Sat 11/14. Likely they would be a non-con opponent at Fiserv in 2027.

we'd do a scrimmage in-season?...which would be that November date you reference.

Yeah, it will be 10/10. That's about when scrimmages are usually played.

LOL. It hasn't even been officially announced.

Unless they change the bylaws quickly, it can't be 11/14.

Dollar dogs on the menu in Green Bay, plus the mascot will be slapping five with each six year old in attendance. uwgb does it right.

Hah I'd forgotten we lost to them in a non streamed game back in our Elite 8 season. Wow between that, the rotnei Clarke buzzer shot, and the Florida blow out (not to mention graduating two all Americans) it was more out of left field that we won the BE than I recalled.

Still mad at the phony lonesome cowboy for that season
It's only a few pennies

Having good relations with the low majors in WI is a good thing for both MU and UWM/UWGB, not unlike a minor league baseball team. It's very likely that a player will develop from UWM/UWGB and play for MU someday.

I don't think its bad to have good relationships with those schools, but I don't think there is much evidence for your second sentence.

...or, it's likely that a player(s) will fail to develop from MU and play for UWM/UWGB someday.

An Exhibition this year, then a home
NC game ?  Great.  Way better than playing Southern or New Hampshire...

I wonder if it's only a matter of time before certain low majors become essentially feeder schools for high majors.  It could work in two different ways.

1. Low major coach is tight with high major coach and there is an understanding that playing for Coach Gottlieb means that he will open doors for you with Coach Smart if/when you're ready to move on.

2. High major school pays, directly or indirectly, for a project player to attend a low major school for a year or two.  This is basically what European soccer leagues do with their younger players who aren't ready for the show yet.  This would only happen if players are locked into multi year contracts or limited to one transfer, otherwise you'd have Sheek Pearsons warming up at UWGB for a year and then bolting for more money somewhere else.
