Quote from: MU82 on January 15, 2026, 10:51:54 AMJalen Brunson got hurt 5 minutes into last night's game and didn't return, so Kolek played 24 minutes. He had 7 points on 3/9 shooting (1/4 from 3), 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 0 turnovers. He was +2, one of only 4 Knicks in the plus column as they lost at Sacramento.

Kolek's performance this year has been kind of funny.  There is some recency and confirmation bias, to be sure.  But it feels like when he gets normal (low to mid teens) minutes, he'll be decent but sometimes uninspiring.  But whenever he gets elevated minutes for whatever reason, he fills up the stat sheet to some extent

Lots of positives, but 10-32 shooting over the past 5 isn't gonna help his long term case...

Jimmy Butler steals a pass intended for Kolek and scores over him on the other end. "Marquette on Marquette crime!" goes the announcer.

Even with Brunson out, Kolek played only 11 minutes last night. Shamet was back and played 16 minutes as backup to McBride.

When Brunson returns soon, the Knicks simply will have too many small PGs for Kolek to see the court. Trade necessary.

Bring him to the Bucks.

I think the Geneva Convention would protest sending anyone to the Bucks at this point.

He's been pretty bad the last week+ but the team still looks so much better with him in the game. Surprised they are totally freezing him out. The Knicks were clicking around Christmas with Kolek in the main rotation. Now they are fading in January.
VIOLENCE!

Knicks are 2-7 in last 9 games, mainly because of injuries to various players and defense and are now behind a Celtic team without Jason Tatum.  Bad.   Can't stay healthy. Brunson, KAT, Clarkson and at times McBride are horrendous on defense and it is a known fact that Brunson could be the worst defender at guard in NBA.  KAT is so big that in transition he can't run the floor back on defense.  Robinson, the best big defender should be back Friday.

OG, Hart, Shamett are now back and Brunson also may play Friday. Kolek got playing time due to injuries, but with all back by weekend, he will be behind McBride, Shamett and Clarkson.  With NBA teams shooting like 40 threes a game and Kolek shooting 32% and slow on defense, I hope he doesn't get buried on bench.

Knicks going to make a trade for a backup forward, so we will see who the Knicks have confidence in before the 2/5/26 trade deadline.

Well looks like handwriting on the wall for Kolek.  Everyone back for Knicks and he played the last three minutes in a Dallas blowout.

Kam Jones got an extended playing time two nights ago when Indiana was getting clobbered.  Played 28 minutes, shot 1 for 10 and then sent to G-League next day.

Kolek has had his chances. He probably becomes part of a trade package.
