Why discuss college basketball? I mean, you logged on to Scoop. Isn't this basically what we do here?

Just a silly article wishfully thinking about going to geographically centered conferences based largely on bygone history and FB relationships. Hardly, a basketball discussion?

Yet here you are discussing if offseason "pablum" is worth reading. Sounds like a larger waste of time than simply ignoring the entire subject actually.

CountryRoads

I think the conference would be fine. Lots of easy road trips. Losing MSG would suck as I love going to that tournament.

Conference schedules are too long and stale for me.

So, while on the topic of radical changes, my preference for a schedule structure would be:

-5 buy games
-10 conference games (5 home, 5 away)
-8 home&home/neutral site games
-3 game holiday tournament
-4 flex games scheduled by NCAA near end of year (ie: against similarly ranked teams from different conferences)

So basically back to the GMC days. Count me in!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I think people may have missed the criteria the author used. He limited conferences to 11 or smaller and was focusing on geography. He also gave preference to original members of comferences. So for example, the B1G in his article were all original B1G teams... which removes 10 of the best programs from the midwest. Given the criteria,  where he placed us makes complete sense. Only quibble would be putting X, Cincy, and maybe Louisville in our conference instead of Memphis, SLU, and one of Dayton/LUC/Nebraska. Would require some shifts in other conferences but I think it could be done
