Hey everyone! New scooper here. Just wanted to share a mildly interesting stat I discovered while looking back at games from the past two years.

Since the start of the 2022/2023 season, Marquette's record is 22-2 when our first made field goal of the game is a three-pointer.

The two losses took place in 2022 to Purdue and Wisconsin, and both were still very closely contested. Since that December of '22, we have never lost when our first points of the game (not including free throws) came from beyond the arc. We are currently on a 14-game win streak in that regard.

Now there's obviously a lot more to winning than a single bucket, and I know correlation doesn't imply causation. But given how receptive our team is to EGBs, it might not be implausible to think that early 3-pointers really do play a part, especially when it comes to kickstarting the confidence and momentum needed to win games.

All this to say, if we happen to open with a made three in our battle against Iowa State next week -- which many I know are already writing off as a loss -- just know that history suggests things could actually get very interesting...

It's true.  I already wrote the game off as a loss on my taxes.

You should definitely live bet off of this stat...

Welcome.

And, clearly the answer is to shoot more 3s.

Sure, but they weren't complaining about being labeled a troll.  You were.

Never complained of being called a "troll" by Fluffy BM. Hell, that's actually a fantastic compliment. The fact is this entire board is a constant barrage of innuendo, lies, insults, and half-truths to fit an agenda, hey?

I see he's moved to full-on tantrum.  Hopefully someone can get him a popsicle.
