I think we roll.

Coming out of the gates solidly is imperative.  We saw last night Illinois go down 20-4 and they could never fully recover.  I'm not suggesting the Hall is anything like Purdue offensively, but I would like to usurp the game early with poise, precision, tenacity, aggression, sticktuitiveness, and essentially destroy their will.  It's time we play a complete game and our Big 3 to take control from the opening tip.  Passivity from certain guys will not please me Jump.  This is our game.  Own it.  This is a tremendous opportunity to springboard us moving forward.

I believe this is the understatement of the year.

As long as MU does not get blown up on the boards, and nobody from SHU goes full Jean Felix, MU should be OK.

I caught a little flak for being critical of Tyler (incessantly was the word), but I really think he has been off the last couple games. Overall, he didn't do the things he does well at a high, consistent level. Last game he finished strong and was the key in my opinion. I think that changes today, I think straight away he is assertive on offense, he is going to make some incredible passes, I think he, to me anyway, is going to be the undisputed stud today. I think this makes things a little easier for Kam and Jop, I think Oso asserts his dominance. I think we roll.

Brew, this is a game where we should take care of business with their offensive issues.  Agreed?    I'd like to see some of our barrages today inside and outside.

Kam has been off a bit as well.

Definitely. I think they both find the groove today.

I get what you said about Kolek, but our opponents' defenses were part of the reason. Now how much "credit" we give them is another question altogether. Strictly an opinion, but Kolek has looked spooked to me a few times this year. I did not see that last year.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

Seton Hall has beat UConn at home and Providence on the road. We've looked awful our last two games on the road, both against solid but not great teams.

Hope the confidence of Scoopers proves correct. I'm expecting an ugly game that goes down to the wire.

It will be a slugfest.  I hope I'm wrong... but it feels like the UW or Prov games

I mean, we're favored for a reason. If I'm blind guessing, I think a 5-10 point victory is the most likely outcome. But it's on the road, sold out, and we saw what happened to UConn. If we go cold from three and have turnover issues, like UConn did, it's certainly a game we could lose. Or if Bediako has a monster day on the offensive glass, our defensive rebounding issues return (though we are #1 in DR% in Big East play through this small sample size), or they get hot from three while we are pedestrian (see SHU vs Providence) there are plenty of reasons this could go wrong.

What do we need to do? Defensively, swarm their ball-handlers and hold our own on the glass. Bediako is a weapon on the glass; he's had 5+ offensive boards in 7/8 games against high major opponents. Offensively, they'll try to slow us down. We need to take advantage in transition on live ball turnovers, but be patient and work for the best shot in half court sets. As good as they are on the offensive glass, they are bad on the defensive glass, so Jop and Oso continuing their trend of OR improvement to give second chance points would be helpful. But ultimately, simple as it is, make shots. They will try to chase us off the line and only one visitor to the Rock has made 37+% of their threes. That was Rutgers, who is also the only visitor to win there this year.

FWIW, Shaka is 4-0 against Seton Hall. At the Rock, he has an average margin of victory of 15.5, with the second best road margin of victory in 2022 (+10) and the best road margin of victory in 2023 (+21). Both road performances were more impressive than the home results.

All of that guarantees nothing, but I think that the combination of our ability to turn them over along with us not getting rattled when they defend late into the shot clock highlights both our advantages and their disadvantages. Of the mid-tier Big East teams, I'm not sure what Seton Hall does is as well tailored to upsetting Marquette as other teams in the league (St. John's, Butler stand out in that regard).

Agree. I believe a big crowd expected for the Hall so the place will be fired up. This will be a tough game.
