Really, it's been gone for a long time.

You'll always have your prized, framed copy of the 2023 Swimsuit Edition hanging in your bathroom, bruh

I started getting SI when I was around 14 (1970) and yes my mom would try to hide the swimsuit issue. I finally cancelled maybe 5 years ago when it was coming once a month with not much content. I really looked forward to every Thursday to see who was on the cover, especially when one of the teams I followed had a great week. The April 4 1977 issue with Butch Lee on the cover is framed and hanging in my Man Cave.

Thursdays were the best day of the week.

My Dad had a subscription to SI as far back as I can remember. By my 12th birthday I too was hurrying home on Thursdays to read it before he was home from work. By college I had my own subscription that I kept til about 10 years ago. All of those great writers - Dan Jenkins, Frank Deford, George Plimpton and more - were responsible for developing my love of reading.

I always got it and turned to the back inside cover to read Rick Reilly.
I stopped subscribing after he left.

His "Why are we here" is framed in my office.

While SI has not  been important for a while now, I always knew it was still around mostly due to the Swimsuit edition. Along those lines, I was surprised to learn, maybe about a year ago, that Rolling Stone is still around. I don't know if it is still in print but they have a website.

I actually thought this happened awhile ago. I know the new owners severely cut the amount of writers and I think we're relying more on freelance.
