Pudding Fingers is doomed.

Question is, does he pivot to TV, lobbyist or think tank.

Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Actually, the State of Florida is deeply concerned about the manatee population. Next to alligators, the manatee is the state animal. All joking aside (sorry Brother Muggsy), they are incredible creatures and fun to watch. On cold days in the winter (keep in mind cold is a relative term in Florida), there's a canal northeast of Melbourne that's filled with hundreds of manatee.

Our problem is that manatee feed off sea grass. The phosphates in agricultural chemicals create an algae that either kills or limits growth of sea grass. The only statewide elected officer from the Democratic party during the past 10 years was a woman, Nikki Fried, who wanted to work with agriculture to limit phosphates in ag run-off. She was successful in elevating the issue but we still have a long way to go.

To address the matter on the short-term, we have discovered that manatee love table lettuce. Our state has spent millions to feed manatee at times when sea grass is lacking. It doesn't solve the habitat problem but it ensure we have manatee in our state's waters.

Are the schoolchildren of Florida allowed to read the manatee story? What if this comes up during a class discussion on manatees?

I agree it is a severe problem. We can't afford to keep dumping phosphates and other chemicals into our water table and expect it not to have an effect on our environment.

No, I'll let the state do it. Ostensibly, they know what they're doing.

Humans are the problem.  Not our tremendous Marine Mammals.
