[Paint Touches] Is NCAA Momentum a Thing?
« on: March 15, 2022, 10:51:45 PM »
I came into this writeup without having an idea what the numbers would actually look like, but the results legitimately shocked me.

You can see the parameters in the article, but teams that "limped" into the tournament since 2017 have exceeded their expected their collective win totals based on seed by 400%. Not a guarantee MU will win on Thursday, but interesting nonetheless.

Hm, interesting.  But of the 18 teams, only 9 won the first game "against their seed"/as an underdog.  So, another sign pointing to a coinflip (aside from he 8/9 seeding).

I'm certainly not one that thinks MU has no hope, but I'm not sure this convinces me that I should be more optimistic!

Maybe Wojo had a strategy after all, he just overshot the "limped into the tourney" part a bit too much...
