Its just been so difficult to me a Marquette fan these years.  While they may have moments at the beginning of the year, they continue to meltdown at the end of the year with terrible showing in BET.  This year particularly frustrating as a new year and the tournament set up nicely for them.

Did anyone play well today?  Morsell and Lewis scored but took a lot of shots to do so and didn't really stand out in any way except for DM and his unforced turnovers.

What I continue to be amazed by is how much playing time Greg Elliott gets.  He is terrible defensively - and I don't think there's much effort on his part.  He doesn't appear engaged and it leads to mental mistakes over and over again.  For a senior who has played as much as he has, its difficult to understand how he can lose sight of his man or not understand where the ball is.  What's more maddening is that Shaka continues to play him, especially since he has lost his ability to hit a shot.

There are better options.  If GE is not going to give max effort, there is no reason to play him.  And there has not been a reason for at least 10 games now.

Oso is so weak and soft. Can't be starter next year

We R Final Four

I thought OMP was one of the few who showed up.
Bad Kur/Oso.
Tyler not there. Kam not on. JLew not in his flow.
When I saw GE guarding Hawkins late in the 2nd half I couldn't believe my eyes.

Not sure I would say a lack of effort on Elliott's part, but certainly did not play well and a lack of discipline defensively at times. A late play was a good example. He jumped doubling from the back side on the ball in the post on the right side. As a result of needlessly jumping, he was late getting back out to a shooter who hit a 3. Kolek attempted to challenge but couldn't get there in time. Small things that make a huge difference. Big fan of Greg and appreciate his attitude and effort, but he needs to be hitting 3s in order to contribute. That hasn't happened the past 6 weeks. So frustrating.

Not that Kalkbrenner and Hawkins are huge, but they sure seemed to abuse us for boards down low. Can't continue to be out-muscled like that inside next year.

really need a PG who is at least a minor threat to score next year.  Yes, I acknowledge Kolek gets assists.  But his drives to the hope scare no one and lets teams sag on other players (or he makes an stupid hard pass to someone for a TO).

Enter Sean Jones.

Hawkins is the only one you can't leave open for three and it happened over and over again

Leaving him wide open down 2 at the end of the game was just mindboggling.  That's was the nail in the coffin.

On the bright side, I don't have to listen to Brando salivating over Hawkins anymore either, which is nice.

O'Connell?

Streaky. Don't want him to be open from three but can live with it. He's 32.5% from deep on the year. Hawkins makes 37% and makes 2.5 of them a game.

The one play that was really frustrating to me is when Lewis had position and Hawkins came in and got the rebound. Lewis needs to play with more physicality on the defensive glass.

just watched the recording in 25 mins. just skipped ahead until they got it close. losing to this creighton team 3 times this year is unacceptable. even worse our worst loss to them coming today when nembhard is out. idk why i had faith theyd make the final this year. another post season game. another post season dissapointment. year  after year. ever since the win streak ended theyve been mediocore at best. i just dont get it.. dont have any faith for next week.

Kur & Oso combined for 2 points and 2 rebounds in 25 mins......yeah I'd say we need a BIG, these guys looked good early season but both have faded over the last month :(

Kur was worth the one year scholarship. He was the only height on the team and he drew some ohs and ahs early in the season. He didn't have any fight in him, and his game was limited. I didn't expect Kolek to be Stockton. I also knew he would be highly efficient if he had a sidekick who was a shooter off the the ball. Not this year- not this season. Koley isn't nifty enough to get easy layups.  It will come when the offense learns to move the ball more efficiently. Oso is a young talent that will surprise everyone.

EasyDuzIt

ya people giving up on Oso is mind boggling to me...hes gonna be good and i think he's kind of playing out of position this year having to guard Kalkbrenner and such...I think next year he's stronger and will have more of a perimeter game..hes a good passer... if we can get a transfer big with some beef even if Lewis leaves you have
Oso-6'9
O-Max- 6'8
Itejere-6'9
Gold- 6'9 maybe 6'10?
Joplin- 6'7, 6'8
Transfer- 6'10 or up

thats some really solid height and length...are guards are big for there positions minus Sean Jones...i like that roster

I still think the team overachieved this year.  We all got spoiled because Marquette became one of the hottest teams in basketball in January.  Teams adjusted to us and now we struggle to adapt.

Bottom line, we are an awful rebounding team that struggles to guard shooters.  Offensively, we don't have anyone that can consistently create their own shot, and we rely on heavy pick and roll actions to create separation and driving opportunities.  As teams began driving us off the line, switching and other forms of scouting to what (we had) been doing well, we simply don't have the talent to adjust.

We are limited.  But we still overachieved given the projected metrics this year.  Have to keep perspective.
