The NCAA gave us their Top-16 Reveal and there were a few lessons to be learned. We dig into some of that as well as a new S-Curve with those lessons incorporated.

I don't see why Texas gets a top 4 seed other than metrics.  Their resume doesn't support it compared to a number of other teams.

I was low on Texas until the past few weeks. The metrics were there, but adding the Tennessee and Kansas wins have reinforced those metrics. They aren't great for the 4-line, but everyone else in contention has significant flaws. Alabama with 2 Q3 losses, Houston with 0 Q1 wins, LSU with a Q3 loss and relatively poor record since Pinson's injury, Ohio State's mediocre Q1+2 record, no one up there is a lock for that spot.

I haven't rescrubbed yet, but the one team that is starting to look good for that spot is UConn. Adding the 'Nova win really polishes up what was a solid but unspectacular resume. Considering other teams around the 5 line have been taking losses, they might be the one I move in.

Gotta say - as someone who's never done a deep dive on how the NET or other metrics work, I find it amazing that some teams are ranked as high as they are.

I'm always happy to talk this stuff. If you're curious about anyone in specific, ask and I'll blather on a bit about whomever you like :D

I greatly appreciate it.

As much as I have been in on baseball analytics since the early 80's (back in the early Bill James days), I never did the same with hoops - I just trust my faulty eyes. So, please continue to blather.
