A friend's daughter was on a nine-month Fulbright Scholarship teaching English to Portuguese speaking people in Brazil. She was directed to come home only five weeks into the program. Of course, Fulbright picked up the cost of the flight.

Notably, she gets full recognition as a Fulbright scholar (which seems to be equivalent to getting full credit for study abroad classes that were interrupted).
