You could fit into a thimble all the brains running the NCAA and the NBA combined.

If a dumb decision can be made the NCAA they will make it every single time.  This idea of letting players transfer right of way without sitting out a year is a joke and will destroy college basketball as we know it.  If a player doesn't like anything about the program they're at then transfer to a new one each year.  What a great way to develop a strong community bond between players and their fans in order to sell tickets and pay bills.   

If having NBA scouts in high school gyms and taking 18 year olds right out of high school wasn't dumb enough the first time around then by all means revert back to it ten years later.  Regardless even with one year in college the NBA has a marketing problem as too many of their players have limited notoriety to get fans excited which just further hinders revenues for an already boring and dying league.  At least a year of Zion Williamson's nightly dunks on ESPN while at Duke created some buzz for the top couple players in last year's draft.  However without the marketing that the US college basketball game provides then no one from New Orleans would be excited to buy season tickets to see some overall 1st round pick from high school that no one saw play.

The NBA also has a structural problem too in that so many first rounders with a small evaluation period of high school and one year of college ride the bench a couple years or become flat out busts.  The ones that do develop into good players by years 3 or 4 of their contracts become attractive free agents and leave for the prime franchises just when they are turning 22 to 24.  This creates a cycle of poverty for the small market teams who are always in the lottery but never seem to get better. 

ESPN way overpaid for their last NBA tv contract and the NBA is facing future drops in revenue and hence why they kiss communist China's butt as it's the only way they see an opportunity to potentially grow their revenues. 

The old days of players spending 3 to 4 years in college before the NBA would even consider drafting them just made too much sense for both sides.  Good thing all the "brains" between the NCAA and NBA got together to come up with a plan to completely destroy them both.

Not surprisingly you don't understand the proposed transfer rule.  You would be allowed to transfer once without sitting.  Any transfer after that would require sitting out a year.  No waiver as I understand it.

I took it as Mack rubbing it in the face of the G League and those players who choose not to go the college route.

At this time, a few high school players forgoing college won't make a huge difference, but the NCAA will be naive to ignore this.

A top prospect will get such much more exposure going to college for a year or two and cashing in on endorsement money rather than going to this G League select program.

Knowing the NCAA, they will somehow bungle this challenge and we'll see more and more top talent leave to cash in for a year before going to the NBA.
