Just follow Herb Sendek.

Stan was an assistant to Mark Pelphrey at Drake. Pelphrey was an assistant to Sendek. Stan was an assistant to Sendek at Arizona St.

Gainey played for Sendek and worked under him there as well. Gainey was an assistant for Sendek at Santa Clara. Gainey was an assistant for Sean Miller at Arizona. Miller was an assistant for Sendek at North Carolina St. where Gainey played for Sendek. Sendek was also an assistant under Miller at Arizona.

Pelphrey was an assistant at MU with Stan.

Two corrections.  It is Mark Phelps...not Pelphrey.

And Sendek was never an assistant under Miller at Arizona.  Sendek has been a head coach continuously since 1993...with one year off between the ASU and Santa Clara jobs.

Yep typo. And, Sendek was an advisor to Miller.  The overall point of course remains the same. They are all connected to Herb Sendek.

Yep, and Miller, also was an assistant under Sendek at Miami (OH). The Millers and their dad and Sendek and his dad grew up and coached in Pittsburgh. Sendek goes to a camp where Rick Pitino is speaking and lands a grad assistant job at Providence, extends it a few more years and goes with Pitino to Kentucky. Then he lands Miami (OH) job where he hired Miller.

Excellent Video Interview with Justin Gainey

Among other things he points out his focus is on player development. A very important skill set to have in the program.

Backcourt littered with question marks.

Indeed.   And potential.   He claims his strength is in player development.    Develop the players.
