March 12, 2020 4:07pm
Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men's and women's 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.

They should really give seniors the option to come back next year and increase scholarships for 1 year to make this possible.

That's a good idea on paper but would cause hell in recruiting cycles.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

You may be right but I'm curious why.  You would simply have larger rosters for one year.  After everything would be back to normal.  Even if it did, seems only right given the circumstances.

Mr. Sand-Knit

Feel terrible for the Seniors!

Am happy it happened to Kansas

And Dayton 😂

I'm most annoyed that we won't know for certain that MU made the tournament and all the people I've been wasting time pointlessly debating with for the past month will be convinced that MU was out for eternity.

Xact

The value of value is valueless.

I wish they'd still give us the bracket just for the hell of it.

There won't be an NCAA champion this year. It's almost like Rick Pitino is coaching every team.

That would be pretty dumb
MU was clearly in.  The team that potentially got screwed would have been Xavier having to have had played in BET n prolly played their way out with the loss to Depaul.  Most possible bubble teams to us lost.

Well let's imagine this, Jayce decides to come back on this rule, now Lewis or Osa aren't getting the opportune playing time as freshmen they were promised so they decommit. Or say Markus comes back now Symir is third or even fourth for playing time after seeing a lot of minutes available after his freshman year, so he transfers, Dexter sees a similar situation, Koby probably believed he was gonna be Markus next year so he's unhappy, we certainly lose out on Mane. It's just the dominos effect

Mr. Nielsen

This also includes spring sports. Lacrosse, baseball and softball.

The CAA says that a game official who worked the men's basketball tournament this week has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The official began exhibiting symptoms 72 hours after the game he worked.
