Scrimmage
« on: August 03, 2019, 02:08:34 PM »
Saw the first 45 minutes of practice...

Jayce will be very good. Will get playing time.

Bailey can get his shot, has to make them. Didn’t see much in shooting.

Really like dexter, shot well.

Symir needs lift on 3 but good shooter.

Cain, Jury still out, one half step slow of indecision.

Koby looked better on defense, can get a shot. Did not look great shooting the 3.

Theo precaution sit out? Participating in drills not scrimmage.

Ed sacar and Markus no surprises.

I wouldnt read too much into the shooting if any of the newcomwrs including koby.  First time playing in front of mu fans n in kobys case after a year off.  A ton of nerves im sure

Nerves? In a scrimmage? Tired, maybe.

I wouldn't read too much into shooting because on any given day good shooters can look bad and bad shooters can knock down a few.

Akanno has a Big East body.......haven't seen a first year guard with level of physicality in a long time.

He and Symir looked good.

Really liking the positive comments about Jayce and Dexter.

I'm hoping for a good season at or near the top end of the BE.

Upon reflection from the open practice...

Jayce, Ed and Theo will do great in 45 to 60 minutes of 4 and 5

Howard, koby, Symir and dexter will do great in their roles. Would not have anticipated Symir and dexter to be that ready... Greg will help at the 2 or 3 as well assuming he is healthy.

Sacar will give 30 great minutes at the 3.

The real questions are will bailey and Cain step up at the remaining minutes at the 3 and 4. I love the athleticism of both. I didn’t see progress today that warranted unbridled optimism. If bailey can make shots and Cain
Can make quicker decisions while handling the ball better.. watch out.

I believe bailey and Cain will determine 4th or 4th  or 1st or 2nd in big east.

Agreed. Both Symir and Dexter are big, physical guards. Nice to see.

I think they can be good. But are a shooter away from being really good.

I like that MU has two frosh guards that are built for BE play. A good start.
